Well that session was frustrating. I lost 100 I couldn't hit shit, and I started playing really really bad towards the end. So many coolers . . . . . ugh, I'm gonna take a nap before time to go out.

I ended up making 50 back this morning. Seeing 1000 looks so much better than 900 and something, so trying to get back over 1000 today, I want to be playing 2/4 by next weekend, and do well on my two tests this Thursday! I'll let y'all know how my goals go.

Welp I lost 100 playing omaha hi/lo again, but 8-tabled 1/2 full ring and made 180, so I'm back up to $1025. Its definitely good to switch back and forth between the 2. I was kind of tilted from missing everything every hand at omaha, but when I started playing hold em instead I was back on my A-game. I think the difference between thought processes is large enough, that when I'm tilted from missing all my monster draws at omaha8 I can switch and not be affected, and when I'm tilted from constantly getting drawn out on at hold em I can go play omaha and be on my A-game.

I'm not sure what my BB/100 is at omaha8 but I'm really curious, so I think I'm going to download PokerTracker for Omaha so I can see. Over 4500 hands of 1/2 full ring hold em, I'm at 2.9 BB/100 and thats generally playing 6-8 tables at a time, with a couple tilted sessions of 12-16 tables where I lost a big number. I think that sample is still way too small to say I'm beating it for 2.9 BB, but it looks like a good indicator that I'm very profitable 6-8 tabling it. That works out to about $20 per hour, which seems like a pretty good investment of my time. I think I'm more profitable at omaha8, but I can only play 3-4 tables, so I think it'll be really interesting to see what the best use of my time is in financial terms.

I gotta a lot of homework now and I'm back over 1000 which was the mission today, so no more poker, and lots more studying.

Lost another 100 playing omaha hi/lo, I was at really loose aggressive tables, a lot of my A2 with a suited ace type hands got 4 bet before the flop, which pretty much makes me obligated to see the turn with any piece, then I'd brick off with a gutshot, nut flush draw, nut low draw. I ended up quitting after my A2Qx turned the nut straight, then rivered the nut flush IN A 4 BET PREFLOP POT and got got beat my a 7910x that one outed me to hit their straight flush. Extremely frustrating session, but I made 150 or so playing 8 tables of limit hold em again, so new bankroll $1075. I'm so close to hitting 2/4, but I'm running terribly at Omaha and I'm getting a little too aggressive. I need to adjust better to my table, today my tables were extremely loose, so being aggressive on my draws is less profitable because I have no fold equity. I'm really happy with my limit hold em game though, I've been playing real tight and aggressive and picking up a lot of pots double barreling. When someone check raises me they've usually got something and I can get away when my AQ misses, but when they just peel a card off they almost always have nothing and another barrel picks up the pot.

Tried something crazy this session, I went straight to 8-tabling 1/2 limit holdem, without losing a hundred at omaha. It worked out well, I made 140 for a net profit of 140 instead of 40. New bankroll $1215! And drum roll please! I'm moving up to $2/4!!!! I think I'm going to start out playing 4 tables of hold em and 2 tables of omaha8 at the new limit, and I'll move back down if I get to $1050, and I'll add more tables if it goes well first session or two. I'm not sure how I'd handle losing 200 in an hour so scaling down the tables until I adjust is probably a good idea. I think today sets a new best day ever for me! I won right about $200!

I also banned myself for the next 24 hours from both Full Tilt and Pokerstars, I have a lot to learn before my tests on Thursday, and a couple hundred dollars doesn't warrant retaking a class, so easy decision there. I'll probably ban myself for another 24 hours after a short session tomorrow night, so I'll see ya at the tables for some real grinding Thursday afternoon and during Spring Break next week!

Dam dude way to go your cruising up ! You will be able to handle a $200 swing dont worry. The biggest swing I went on was $1500. Whooooooweeeee I was in panic mode Ill tell you that but I kept playing the same and won my 45 man to bounce it back to being dowon $400. My casual swing for me was $800 I could handle that pretty handily because it was only one tournament win and I always pulled it off under the pressure. If I was down $100 I was in heaven lol.

But that b eing said you will defintly be able to handle a $200 swing . You have excellent management it wont hurt you if you lose $200 . If you lose $100 you will get thata back pretty casually . Or you can be like me and just go play HU $2 $4 PLO and get it all back in 1 hand lol

Ya I think it'll just take a few times where I lose 200 and then make it back to get comfortable and not sweat it! Holy crap $800, and especially while still being in high school, that definitely takes some maturity to just shrug off! I'd freak out right now! Give me a couple more months though and hopefully that'll be something I can handle! PLO is too sick a game for me, maybe at some point down the road I'll grow to like it, but that has always been my least favorite during the mixed games, it is just too swingy and I hate losing more than I like winning!

It's awesome not tilting off half my bankroll every couple weeks, and I think my recent steady incline is the result of that!

At 930 tonight I'm going to give 2/4 a go! I think I'll start with omaha despite my recent rough patch. I think I've figured out how to plug a few leaks and I'm feeling really confident about giving it a go!

I looked on pokertableratings, and I've made more this week at 1/2 limit hold em than all but 6 online poker players! Thought that was kinda cool!

I was worried about going to vegas because it is more money than I'm used to, but I could lose a lot more in an hour at 2/4 8-tabling than I ever could playing one 4/8 live game, so it'll be nice to go to Vegas where things aren't so risky. JK, but it really does make me feel better about the trip, and if I'm losing live I'll just play a little online where I'm a little more comfortable or just go get shitty drunk!

$1280, ran okay at my first hour long session of 2/4 omaha8, I lost a couple key pots that would have put me up a whole lot more, but hey any time you make $65 in an hour doing something you love, I think you can call it good!

One week, and about 12 hours and I'll be in Vegas baby! I'm sure I'll have some crazy (hopefully good) stories to post, and a couple hundred dollar bills to pad all three of our pockets on the way home! A hotel room split 3 ways is only about 75 for 3 nights + 150 for the flight + ? for alcohol food and miscellaneous should mean that I really don't have to make that much at the poker tables to break even on the trip!

Only played about 2.5 hours total since last post, but new roll $1380! I've been studying like crazy for my Thermodynamics test that I'm gonna ace in an hour!
It actually seems like there is a difference in the level of play from 1/2 to 2/4. I just need to keep this mentality where I really care about the money, so if I start losing I quit because I'm not at my best and don't want to lose more, instead of just knuckling down when I'm not on my A-game.I'm only 400 away from moving up again to 3/6 so if I keep running decent I may not even have time to get comfortable at 2/4 before I'm rolled for 3/6! Well anyway, I'm pretty excited about everything, and playing a lot of poker for the next week and a half.

But yeah, in two and a half hours every worry in the world is gone and I'm basically on spring break! I think that calls for some middle of the day drinking Coors brewery short tour for 3 free beers, then class, then beer pong with my buddy (that I just gave 10 bucks on stars and is getting into poker!) then pong tourney at the Ace Tavern, then big party tonight. Hell yeah!

Edit: It is 2.5 hours later, and I'm in class with some beers in me just waiting to get out and play some pong! I did ace my test and life is good!

Thats great dude your propelling. Yea $2 $4 limit heads up was my monster game when I Was a sophmore in high school i was upsessed with $2 $4. Sit down at a heads up table and just rake it in . I would try and play $1 $2 limit head sup but couldnt do it. The value of the hands is just way to low for me. I skipped over $.50 $1 and $1 $2 and went straight $2 $4 limit . Its a fun game to play. MARCH MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun in VEGAS~!!!!

And oh yea dude losing $800 having school the next day that sucked major. lol I would just go to school on an energy drink. I literally lived on energry drinks for 2 months I had 2 24 packs of Sobe Adrenaline Rush and just lived on that shit before I went to school. I couldnt stay awake with out them things. None of my friends even bother with me they could tell when I had a long night or good night just by how I looked. Then I member I would be sitting in class with my notebook scribbling a bunch of numbers trying to plan out my session for after school. My notebook was just all numbers full of buy ins and risks and objectives and tourneys I needed to play . It was a mess. I slept through school and managed to get by easily I was one of them kids that could cram everything in the class before witih my homework.. Lol I member I forgot I had a paper due in English and I was scrambling to do it in first hour and I got it done. I turn it in second hour and the next week I get it back and I get an A+ on it my teacher said she could tell I put a lot of work into when I only put 8 minutes into hahaha that was awsome

Ya, I'll bet going to school after that would be rough. I was always like that in high school too, I was valedictorian and pretty much never did homework before the day it was due. I still put myself in situations like that too often, but if you pick a tough major for college its a lot harder to get by doing stuff like that.

Well the inevitable happened, I lost $220, I was really hoping i would be up around 400 at 2/4 before I took a hit so I wouldn't be so close to movin back down to 1/2, but you don't get to decide when you run good and bad, so ya. New roll $1150. If I hit 1050 I'll take a break for the rest of the day and move back down to 1/2 till I get back to 1200. The road up the ladder is always gonna be bumpy if you're doing it right, and losing 220 and getting it back will make me feel a lot more comfortable at 2/4.

Not quite a bad thing that you lost $220. Im guessing thats close the most you've lost in one session so this will put u to the test. To see if you can handle this the right way. If you play this right then im gonna say im pretty much gonna say your not gonna go bust 95% of the time if you play that loss right. Because thats an extremely hard level in the bankroll your at now. You get through this though and im 95% positive you wont ever bust online again. It took me forver to get to the $1000 mark I think it took me 2 weeks . You just come to a halt. Your next objective though is $1500. I say if you hit $1500 that its time to take $500 off atleast though. Give yourself some money in the BANK ACCOUNT!!!!! MOOOLA for things like

I ended up losing my next session and got down to 1050, so I took a break and moved down to 1/2. I had another rough session and lost 100, so I quit for the day. I woke up this morning ready to play, had another rough session and lost another hundred. New bankroll $812, I've lost $570 in the past 48 hours without tilting. I'm not sure exactly how many hands I've played, but this is quite a rough swing. I've lost at omaha8, pot limit omaha8, and hold em. I'm really not sure what to play and I've lost all confidence in my game. I think I'm gonna take a break for the rest of the day and go play some frolf, enjoy the beautiful weather, and maybe read some stuff or watch a few videos, I just gotta do something to get my confidence back.

Tough run. That's why bankroll management is so important, so you can weather these swings.

I think a break is a good idea. Don't lose confidence. If you still have that poker itch, a few tourneys might help and you limit your loses until you're ready to jump back into ring.

Thanks Frost, yeah I think bankroll management has saved me, in the past this is the point where'd I'd be starting back over from scratch, but I've done a lot better with not tilting and not going to play a 1000 heads up sng when I do.

I played 4 180 man sngs, I just kept on getting in bad situations and finished in the 40th-70th region in all of them. By the way, I've decided that those are not poker!!!! They can certainly be beat, but in a cash game, sitting 200bb deep if you get queens against aces and you're good, you can get away from them before you get felted, but in a sng sitting 50bb deep at best it's impossible, and if you do you're a retard since people's shoving range is so much wider than just aces and kings in that spot.

So ya new bankroll $750, quite a skid, but its still a very workable roll, and I'll bounce back. I always seem to build my bankroll during the week and then crash on the weekends, and I finally figured out why. During the week I have a lot to do, so I balance poker with everything else, and play short sessions. Then on the weekends poker becomes an obsession instead of a hobby, I play too much, get frustrated, and play bad for too long. In a year and a half I'll be a mechanical engineer and that'll be a good source of income for the rest of my life. If poker makes me enough money to go to Vegas once or twice a year and have some fun, and it provides a good release from the day to day grind, then mission completely accomplished. Last night I went to the casino and had a beer, talked with some people and ended up breaking even. I was kinda pissed at first, but I had fun and had a beer for free, I think that should be a win in itself. I just need to remember that I'm playing poker to have fun, whether I've won a grand in the past week and am climbing up the ladder like mad, or lost a grand in the past week and have to move down. Poker is a hobby for me, not a profession and I think it would be too stressful for it to ever be anything more than a supplement to my income at best.

I've decided to take Despise's advice and take off 500 when i get to 1500 for a new computer. The wireless on this isn't working and it's seeming to be on its last leg, so a new laptop will be necessary in the near future, and seems like a good thing to use some poker money for, so ya at 1500 I'll get a 200 dollar gift certificate with my FPP's and take off 500 so I have 700 to put towards a new laptop. I'm not sure what I want, but I think I'll be able to find something in the 700 range plus or minus about 100.

Lost another $50. I keep on getting back on to play with a fresh mind and a new perspective, but the same sick shit just keeps on happening. I've reviewed my play and there's probably enough situations that I could've played better to reverse these losses, but I would literally have to play perfect to not lose with the way I've been running.
